Libertarian elected to city commission

On November 7, 1995, Libertarian Party of Georgia member Dewayne Methaney won a seat on the Auburn, Georgia, City Commission, placing second in a field of six candidates vying for two spots. Methaney's campaign in the nonpartisan race was managed by Libertarian Party campaigner Larry Bolin.

LP State Chair Montague Boyd reported that, "In a last ditch effort, the Democratic machine sent out an unsigned letter comparing Libertarians to Howard Stern. This smear campaign failed because Dewayne had a positive message that resonated with the voters of Auburn."
