The 1987 Libertarian national convention nominated Ron Paul for President and Andre Marrou for Vice President. Paul had served four terms in Congress as a Republican. Marrou had served in the Alaska state legislature as a Libertarian.
The nominating convention was spirited. American Indian activist Russell Means lost the presidential nomination to Paul.
The Paul/Marrou ticket was on the ballot in 46 states plus the District of Columbia and received 432,116 votes.
