The Trial

Eleven Branch Davidians were tried for murder and weapons-related charges in a federal court in San Antonio, Texas, in January and February 1994. They were all found innocent of the most serious charge, conspiracy to murder, but some were found guilty of other charges and were sentenced in June 1994. In August 1996 the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the convictions of six Davidians who appealed; however, the court ruled that their sentences could be reduced. By the end of 1997, the two women prisoners finished their sentences and were freed. Most of the men are due to be released in spring 2006.
