Congress Holds Hearing (Again) Into Federal Agents' Abuses

Beginning July 12, 1995, for the first time since 1980, the U.S. Congress held hearings on abuses by federal police.

The U.S. House of Representatives' joint subcommittee of the Judiciary and Government Reform and Oversight committees investigated government tactics that led to deaths at Waco and Ruby Ridge. Reps. Bill McCollum, R-Fla., and Bill Zeliff, R-N.H., chair the joint subcommittee, and scheduled hearings for mid-July.

Senate hearings into the Ruby Ridge incident were held in September 1995.
