Doug Bandow

Doug Bandow was a longtime Senior Fellow with the Cato Institute.

Bandow earned a B.S. in economics at Florida State University and a J.D. at the Stanford Law School. He worked for Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign and served in Reagan's administration on the Office of Policy Development.

Bandow writes prolifically for magazines and newspapers and is the author of many books and policy papers. Among his areas of specialty are drug legalization, noninterventionist foreign policy and the relationships between religious faith and liberty.

In December 2005, Bandow resigned his position with Cato after it was discovered that he had accepted payment from Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff to write articles favorable to Abramoff's clients, without informing Cato or the newspapers that published his column of the deal.
