- US Representative District 2: David Constant: 1,239 votes (0.6%)
- US Representative District 10: Gary Johnson: 3,950 votes (1.7%)
- US Representative District 14: Ed Fasanella: 2,543 votes (1.3%)
- Chief Justice, State Supreme Court: David Parker: 162,427 (3.1%)
- Justice, State Supreme Court, Place 1: Tom Stults: 129,180 (2.5%)
- Justice, State Supreme Court, Place 2: Eileen Flume: 189,159 (3.7%)
- Justice, State Supreme Court, Place 3: John B. Hawley: 611,656 (16.0%)
- State Railroad Commissioner: Rick Draheim: 102,897 votes (1.9%)
- State Representative District 45: Bill Utterback: 4,781 (11.3%)

Hawley's 16% showing for State Supreme Court retains the party's
status as a major party in Texas through the 1998 elections, obviating
the need for petitioning to get on the ballot.
1988 Libertarian Party presidential candidate
Ron Paul,
running as a Republican, won his race for US Representative
District 14 in Texas. With 92% precincts voting, Paul had 87,365
votes (51%).
