The Libertarian Party of Alabama ran the following candidates in the November 1996 elections:

• US Senate: Mark Thornton: with 99% of precincts reporting, 26,914 votes (1.8%)
• US Representative District 1: Bob Burns
• US Representative District 2: Michael Probst
• US Representative District 3: Ralph E. Stokes: with >95% precincts reporting, 1,952 votes (1%)
• US Representative District 4: Alan Barksdale
• US Representative District 5: Craig Goodrich
• US Representative District 6: T. Franklin Harris, Jr.
• US Representative District 7: Ken Hager
• Supreme Court Justice: Mike Seibert
• President of Public Service Commission: Mike Chappell
• Constable, Mobile District 34104: Steve Fischbach
