From January to April 1996, nearly 20 Libertarians were elected or appointed to various nonpartisan offices across the U.S.
- January 1996: Libertarian elected to Town Commission in Delaware
- January 1996: Libertarian elected chair of D.C. neighborhood commission, appoints Libertarian to development committee
- January 1996: Libertarian appointed to historic district commission in Michigan
- January 1996: Libertarian appointed to constitional review commission in California
- February 1996: Libertarian appointed to county development commission in North Carolina
- February 1996: Libertarian elected to school board in New Jersey
- February 1996: Libertarian elected to city council in New Hampshire
- February 1996: Libertarian appointed to conservation commiussion in New Hampshire
- February 1996: Libertarian Steven Perfect appointed to Ochlockonee, Florida, River, Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors, giving Libertarians a majority on the body
- February 1996: Libertarian Eric Johnson appointed as alternate to Lake St. Croix Beach, Minnesota, Park Commission
- March 1996: Three Libertarians elected in local New Hampshire races
- April 1996: Three Libertarians elected in local Wisconsin races, another appointed
