ATF Agent Commits Suicide Over Waco Role
In July 1996, ATF Special Agent Nathaniel Medrano committed suicide
with a gun in the ATF's Los Angeles office. Merdrano wanted to sue the
Treasury Department for defamation of his character by placing
unfair blame on him for the mistakes made in the Waco assault, but
was informed the goverment cannot be sued for defamation of an agent.
Medrano posed as a UPS trainee about a month before the raid, and
was criticized by the Treasury investigation report for being so obvious
that David Koresh complained to the local Sheriff's office about
surveillance.
