Russell Means
Russell Means is an American Indian activist. He ran unsuccessfully
for the Libertarian Party nomination for President in 1988.
Means helped found the American Indian Movement in the early
1970s. In the 1988 Libertarian nomination race, one of Means' strongest
points was the fact that he led an Indian uprising against the
federal government, and was acquitted in twelve criminal trials
arising from the incident.
Means is an accomplished actor having appeared in films including
The Last of the Mohicans, Natural Born Killers
and Windrunner. He has also appeared on television,
written an autobiography, and started a multimedia production company.
