Ed Crane

Ed Crane has been a leader in the modern libertarian movement since its earliest days. He was one of the original 85 founders of the Libertarian Party, served as national Chair of the Libertarian Party from 1974 to 1977, and has been President and CEO of the Cato Institute since its founding in 1977.

Crane declared in 1986 that the Libertarian Party is not "in the real world" and that Pete DuPont (a contender for the 1988 Republican presidential nomination) was worthy of libertarian support.
