"Any activity becomes creative when the doer cares about doing it right, or better."
-- author John Updike
From August 2002 to October 2006, I worked as a page designer and copy editor for The Tifton Gazette, a small, daily newspaper in rural Tifton, Georgia.
Designed and copy edited usually five pages per day: front page, jumps, nation and world news, state and region news, and local blotter. Also designed weekly feature page on agriculture and gardening, weekly feature page on business and economy, and occasional special pages.
Posted local stories to Internet (Web and e-mail list).
Selected wire content for nation-and-world and state-and-region pages.
Attended Georgia Press Association workshops on page design and copy editing.
Software: QuarkXpress and Adobe Photoshop.
