How you can help

An immense number of people are displaced for a long period of time. They will need much help to get back on their feet. The Network for Good has a long list of agencies that will be providing help. See their page and donate to the charity of your choice:

News and information

All the major news sites have extensive sections for Hurricane Katrina.

  • The CNN Hurricane Katrina Help Center is an excellent list of resources including local news sources and lists of people missing or found
  • NOLA.com, normally the online site for the New Orleans Times-Picayune newspaper, has extensive information, including many photos (under "Galleries") and heartbreaking stories from residents ("Your Stories"). Reading the online blog ("Latest news") will dispel all the bullshit coming from politicians and bureaucrats and let you know what's really going on.
